Meet Kara!
I am a proud Combat Veteran who served in the United States Air Force for 8 years. After transitioning from the military, I became a teacher for 3 years working in middle school teaching and coaching. I then pursued a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Texas, San Antonio and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
With a commitment to supporting individuals in their healing journeys, I have specialized certifications in Trauma-focused therapies including; Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Additionally, I have completed Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, further enhancing my ability to help clients navigate complex mental health challenges.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings. I am skilled in treating a wide range of issues, including:
Trauma
Grief
ADHD
Bipolar Disorder
Conduct Disorders
Depression
Anxiety
IMR
Additionally, I have significant experience with Illness Management & Recovery (IMR) and working with dysfunctional family dynamics. My expertise also extends to crisis intervention and supporting individuals through acute mental health crises.
As a Clinical Manager in an outpatient setting, I led clinical teams to provide compassionate, evidence-based treatment to individuals facing complex mental health issues. This leadership role allowed me to not only guide clinical practice but also mentor other professionals in developing their therapeutic skills. I am deeply passionate about teaching and believe that a person’s value cannot be reduced to their diagnosis. I am committed to fostering an environment where my clients feel empowered to grow and heal.
I am dedicated to continuing my education and professional development to best serve the diverse needs of my clients. My work is rooted in the belief that healing is possible for everyone, and I strive to bring hope and understanding to those I work with.
With gratitude,
